1998 C280, W202, Evap Temp Sensor Replacement

Hello -
Seeking help for some A/C related problem: Basically the A/C is available during initial startup for a few (5-10) minutes and then gradually the air warms back up.
Diagnostics on Actual Values on the A/C Push Button Control Module suggests that Evaporation Sensor (Code 5) gives a reading of 146 and stays that way during running (this value also noted before turing the igniton on).
I suspect this is an 'out-of-range' value.
While I do not know if this sensor malfunction can cut of the A/C?? I request some tips on-
1) Where is this sensor's exact location?
2) Can a novice handle this replacement without a serious PITA?
3) What is the causal relationship between this malfunction and A/C

All other functions IMHO work perfectly well on this ACC -

Please Help - either online or offline (enkad@yahoo.com)
