500SEL Transmission

Wanting to replace neutral safety switch and wanted to know if I needed to drop transmission? Same question for modulator. Wanted to try the modulator first since I sometimes need to raise foot off gas to make shift.

Wink

The modulator controls how HARD the trans shifts, not when. The control pressure cable controls WHEN the trans shifts.

Back to first question: the trans does NOT have to be removed to replace either the neutral switch OR the modulator vacuum diaphram.

Smile 500 SEL Transmission

M.B.DOC Thanks for the feedback. I will be changing the neutral safety switch. My other problem would be shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Most of the time @ 40mph trans will shift. After driving for a period of time, I have to raise the rpm to make it shift. Any ideas?
