There should be someone in the area that can take a look at it. If that one don't pan out one of the local independents in town still has his for sale but it is a far cry from the ebay one. His has documentation and low miles.

That's pretty wild that his buy it now price is just a little more than a low mileage turbo 300D went for on there not too long ago.

Yeah, it's crazy, but 500E's with relatively high mileage are selling from $9k - about $12k these days.

What color is your friends 500E, and how much will he take for it?

I'm looking for a black car with a black interior. And when I say black, I mean black, color code 040 black. About half of all 500E's sold in the U.S. are Pearl Black, which is not pearl, and not black. It is a dark gray metallic color, and I really don't care for it.

I am from Houston, but currently on temperary assignment in SF. I will not be home until end of Feb.

I have seem this guy sell cars on Ebay before. In fact, the picture of this 500E is in front of my office (Lake of Post Oak). I think he is one of those used car dealers along the feeder road of hwy 59.

I wonder if it wouldn't be too much trouble to ask you to look at the car to see if it is in good shape cosmetically.

If it looks o.k., then I might take up Albert Champion and have his shop look at the car.

It's just impossible to tell what the car really looks like with digital images posted on the internet.

I'll see if I can get someone to look at the car first to see if it's the real deal. If it passes a "visual inspection", i.e. no serious flaws in the paint, etc., then I might take you up on your offer and have your shop give it the once over.
