Battery Pan

Does anyone know where i can get a new one?
(Part that the battery rests on)

It is for my 1989 300E

The old one is very rusty, I don't want the rust to spread!

Don't be surprised if the WEB sellers don't carry that item. I've checked 4 of them, including the one here(online that is) and none of them have it.

You may have to see your local dealer. Before you do that, call Phil at Fastlane...800 # at this site. He sometimes gets stuff out of a wholesaler in South San Franscisco, Calif.

I'm amazed that MB still made them out of steel!

For every car I've had with a steel battery tray, I've had to repair them or at least beef them up so they won't waste away from the battery acid. I have access to a sand blaster. After blasting away the rust, I recoat them first with primer, then either tar or use a dippable rubber coating. Regular paint just doesn't last. Do you have access to a sand blaster at school?

Does anyone know the size of the short threaded metal dowel that the battery holddown plate fits over. This is missing on my car (88 300ce) & I've been unable to find the right size to screw into the vacant hole. The dealer didn't have it as a listed part. Thanks.
