85 500 SEC...engine reuild or look for new engine ?

Have an 85 500 SEC Euro model. Car had over 200,00 miles when camshaft lobe became worn, and loud ticking noise resulted. I continued to drive the car and suddenly it died one day. I kept trying to start it and it would turn overbut not start. After continuing to crank it...the engine just locked. I pulled the valve coves and the chain is still intact. Had the car taken to the local Benz dealership, and all they would say is that it was 'fried". Should I opt for an engine rebuild or look for a nice used engine or rebuilt long block. Don't want to spend over may $6,000.00 on this job. I love the car and don't want to sell it. I came across this place on the web called "Noel's Mercedes"...(out of Florida).. that has rebuilt long-blocks, but they want $5,000.00 for a rebuilt long block. Anyone know of any better options ?
By the way, I live in the Dallas/FW area.
Please offer any helpful suggestions/options.
Thanks.
