Now you guys have my attention! The Ebay product looks promising! I assume the factory alarm will not go off when unlooking the doors? Looks relatively easy to install. Any successes out there?

Got a system for my wife for Christmas and the hookup looks pretty daunting. There are a gazillion wires coming from the receiver that will do all kinds of things to the car I don't want it to do. All I want is the remote lock/unlock feature. There have been a few posts about installing it on the trunk latch. I took it apart today and the actuator for the latch has 3 wires going to it,,, a ground and two hot wires I suspect. Wonder if it would be a simple job of tapping into the two hot wires from two appropriate wires on the receiver and it will do the job ?

Okay, I got this to work in my '92 190E! I bought this Omega keyless entry module for roughly $30 shipped. I then had the seller send me a DLS-V ($18/shipped), which is a pair of relays wired together and designed to plug into the Omega module. Once the module and DLS-V are connected, there are only 4 wires to connect! Here are the instructions...

This is so simple, it's scary! It worked the first time I tested it! I did have to adjust the module to send out a longer lasting signal.

Thread bookmarked! I have been wanting to do this recently and now with it sub $100...I may actually go ahead next paycheck!

Will this disarm a factory alarm also? This is looking like a very attractive option.

I don't have the alarm, so i have no idea.

WHen you use the unlock mechanism to unlock the doors, when the driver's door unlocks, it will disarm the alarm, or so I have been told. My alarm does not trigger when I use my unlock key fob I installed.

I understood that disarming the alarm and unlocking the doors were two separate things.

My old driver's door lock (for instance) would unlock the doors, but not disarm the alarm when unlocked with the key (a uniquely annoying experience sometimes).

My concern with this method is that the car will be unlocked, but the alarm will still go off when you try opening the door.

That would be my concern too!

Just my two cents...my vac pump is running slower each month, I figure soon it will give out and the door locks will stop unlocking and I will need a pump. This said, when the car is locked and the alarm is on....I can unlock the car at the trunk and open the trunk before the vac pump has operated enough to build pressure to unlock the doors. So, basically, I walk to the car, unlock the car at the trunk and can open the trunk before the vac actuator at the trunk or the doors activates and unlock the car byt he central unlock system. Not a big deal right now, because a few seconds after I open the trunk the vac system kicks in and all the doors and the fuel door and the trunk unlock vac acctuator operate and everything unlocks. Only issue is this...since the central vac system has not operated and the trunk is open, the trunk pin that triggers the alarm closes when the trunk lid opens and the alarm goes off. Like it should..except I used the key as i am supposed to....why does the alarm go off? Only thing I can see is because the disarm arm action is in the door lock. I open the trunk, the doors are all still locked waiting on the vac pump to build pressure casue it is dying and the alarm goes off, then a second or two later the vac pump opens the doors locks and the alarm shuts it self off. The alarm shuts off due to the vac pump opening the door locks. DOnt know what exactly it is doing it with, but the action that shuts off the alarm is my vac pump unlocking the doors, not me unlocking or opening the trunk...SO, by using an unlocking module that triggers the vac pump to unlock the doors, you will by proxie, disarm the alarm in the process...At least that is what is occuring in my 190E .

I cut the green wire, which is the passenger door lock signal wire, but you could cut the blue, which is for the driver's door.

Same thing on the W201... unlocking/locking the trunk locks/unlocks all the doors. With the backseat or trunk install, it's the same thing either way.... you're inserting the module in-line with the wire that tell the pump to send vacuum or pressure to the lock actuator. Both installations require 4 wires be connected. After having looked at both methods, I don't think the trunk install is that much easier/better. First, getting my hands in the tiny access holes to get to the plugs wouldn't be fun. The BIGGER problem is moisture. The underside of my trunk lid often has moisture on it. That moisture runs down into the bottom/rear edge of the trunk lid, right where the trunk installed electronic entry module would be located. NOT GOOD.
