Fuel gauge pickup assembly removal

Fuel gauge pickup assembly removal

I need to remove the fuel gauge pickup assembly on my W124, 1988, 260E sedan; in order to inspect the inside of the fuel tank.

Do I need to remove the fuel Tank?
