rattling at high rpms.........

mainly in lower gears in my 86 190 16v. it stops when i shift until i reach a higher rpm in the next gear.

no vibration.......just a rattling sound somewhere in the engine department

any suggestions?

Does it rattle when revving in neutral, or only in gear? if it makes the noise in neutral, it will be much easier to find. unless you have someone willing to sit in the engine compartment at speed.

I had that once and it was my shifter bushings. But that may not be the case with you....

doesn't rattle in neutral. i guess it could be described as a shuttering sound the higher the rpm.

its not the shifter bushings.....i replaced them already and the current noise is coming from the drivetrain or engine area.

How are the flex disks and the center bearing of the shaft? Other than that it could be clutch related, such as the throwout bearing. I am assuming your 16V is standard shift!

its standard. just didn't know where to start.....i'll try the center shaft and other recommendations. thanks
