300 CD power problem
I have a 83 300 CD turbo. The other day the valve cover gasket cracked and dumped 9 qts of oil in 2 minutes on and old road. The engine slowed to a crawl and my daughter drifted it to a parking lot.I filled it back up and drove it home. The problem I am having is the engine will not excede 25 MPH up a hill and shakes the wheel when getting up around 40 mph.( I have not driven it past 40 MPH).The engine ran fine before it lost all the oil.I removed the turbo and even though it has a lot of side play the compressor does not hit the case housing nor can you deflect it into the housing. It does however have a lot of noise coming from the turbo when about 3000 rpm are applied.I then drained the oil from the injector pump and fround some small nonmagnetic fillings.I would say about 20.None bigger than 1/64,silver in color. The engine has 60,000 miles on it and other than the AC not working it ran fine.Does anyone have any ideas what was damaged. If its the Turbo or injector who rebuilds them or should I just scrap the car and move on.The car has no rust and would hate to give it up.Here is another clue the engine starts fine and produces no smoke. It does produce some small amounts of white smoke when going up a hill but it always did.
