Vacuum modulator W 107 350 SL 1971. Hard gear shift

Hi
I have a W107 350 SL 1971 modell,and I like to soften the gear shift.
The car have a 4 speed automatic gear box. I can't find the modulator.
Where is it? My be someone have a pictures or drawing ?
The shift from 3. to 4. gear are very hard.

I'm not familiar with your transmission, but generally there is a vacuum hose running to the modulator, at least there is on newer models. If you can find a vac hose attaching the tranny somewhere, that would likely be the modulator. Also check for vac leaks, often the source for hard shifts.

I can't see any vacuum hose from the engines to the transmission?
Can this car have a non vacuum modulator? Or ?

Haynes publishes a repair manual (63030) (698) for 350SL & 450SL 1971 thru 1980. Perhaps the information you need is in there.

Thank you BusyBenz.
I have the Haynes repair manual (63030) (698) for 350SL & 450SL 1971 thru 1980. But I cant find any of the modulator pressure adjust. The manual refer
to the vacuum modulator line, but no pictures , drawing og other info.
The manual are for 3 speed trans. I have a 4 speed.

The modulator is located on the rear passenger side, by the transmission tail. If it’s the original modulator it will have a steel vacuum line with a banjo fitting.
