96 E320 remote cr*p advice needed.
My wifes car a 1996 E320 Avantgarde W210 model, the remote has always been temperamental and now has taken it upon itself to pack up every now and then, plus the range is rubbish you have to be right next to the car and have a clear line of sight so the remote can see the mirror.
I have reset the remote as stated in the manual, replaced the batteries numerous times and it is still the same. Is there a proper fix or is it to the merc dealer?. Any help would be really appreciated. Lynall |

I have owned a 2001 E55 and currently own a 2001 E320T. The range on both remote keys was and is crap. In the US people frequently use the panic button (or lock button if your car beeps when it is remotely locked) to locate one's car in the parking lot. Most other cars can do this from a block and 2 floors away but in my experience the MB's still can't locate the car if the key fob is at point blank range. My E55 even had the antenna (it's in the dome light), key fob, etc. replaced to no avail. Must be some safety thing.
