Exclamation Steering Wheel shakes on bumps

Hello,

The steering wheel on my '86 300E shakes everytime I go over a bump on the road. Otherwise it's stable. Any idea what would cause that? The ball joints are new.

Thanks.

2nd that opinion........steering dampers are a weak spot on the W124 and are cheap and easy to replace.

Replaceing the steering dampner fixed the slight vibration at the steering wheel on my 94 E320.

Fixed again.

The steering vibration when driving over bumps had re-appeard again on my '86 300E recently. It turns out that the front shock mounts were damaged and torn. I guess most of the load was on the steering damper which had caused it to go bad eventually in the fisrt place.

I replaced the shock mounts and the problem is fixed.
