Help with replacing 3rd brake light on 95 E420
My 3rd brake light located by the rear windshield went out and I got a bulb fault indicator light. Is it easy to replace? What bulb number do I need to use? If anyone has some directions to show how to do it would be greatly appreciated! :bulb:

It's a simple, easy job
I recently replaced the lamp on my 95 E300D. It's a 3-minute job. The owner's manual has all the information you'll need. If you don't have a manual I'll try to scan an image and post the instructions.

Manual Instructions
Sorry, can't scan the manual to a file size small enough to attach. Here's the verbatim description from the manual:
"To replace the bulb, pull tabs on both sides - using a screwdriver - to release cover. Press bulb dowb down, turn counterclockwise and remove." You do this from inside the car. I was able to remove the cover with my fingertips - didn't even need a screwdriver. Hope this helps you. By the way, I picked up a new manual for my '95 at a dealer for about $12. Happy motoring! |
Joseph_H,
The bulb you need is 21W/32cp. It is definitely DIY, though take your time not to break those plastic tabs. I don't have the bulb number, but once you remove the old one you can probably read it off that. For the manual, besides dealers try calling MBUSA -- they may send it to you for free, whether you bought the car new or otherwise. Good luck. |
