engine noise
loud clicking sound when first starting car, stops when car starts. Have replaced the starter and solinoid, still makes the clicking sound. Where do I check next?
|
Battery.
Have it load tested. Don't rely on using an open circuit voltage test as an indicator to the batteries health. My 2 cents. |
Did that before changing out the starter, battery is good.
|
If your battery is holding up to a load test, I would wonder about the health of the new/rebuilt/used solenoid that was installed.
If you bought the starter/solenoid from Auto Zone or one of the other mass marketer junk sellers, all bets are off. My 2 cents. |

Okay.......you gotta be givin' us more info'..... Is it a loud clicking before the starter cranks.? Low amp's/volts. Is it a click while the starter is cranking ? Missing ring gear tooth. Is it clicking while you trying to find the ignition key hole ? Your drunk . :D ______________________________________________________________ |
Turn the key on, engage the starter and the clicking can be heard until the engine starts. Not the starter/solenoid, changed that out, not the battery, had that checked. How about motor mounts?
|
Yes, you changed the starter and solenoid, but how do you know with certainty they aren't the problem?
Clicking motor mounts?????? |
