My 200 CLK 430 convertible is 10 months old. I love this car and will keep it forever. I plan on taking it to the dealer for service while under warranty now and after the warranty expires because I know of no trustworthy, competent independent garages. I've been happy with how the dealer delt with minor problems in the past. I'm thinking of buying the MB extended warranty(I have 2 more months to decide). Has anyone had experience with such warranties or recommend them? The cost of repairs is pricey, so if I keep the car for a long time it might be worth it. I know other companies sell warranties, but I wonder if the dealer will honor them. Any opinions are appreciated.

I have no experiece with the warranties but I understand what you are talking about. Fixing a problem on the CLK after warranty will be very pricey. I have a CLK430 coupe on order and I think I will take the extended warranty when I discuss it with my dealer. Personally I would take it because you never know what could go wrong after the warranty is up. I forgot what the warranty is that comes with the car, is it 4 years/50K miles??
