AC Quick fix or long term?

4 Years ago my 83 380SEL got the r134 conversion done and a rebuild compressor put in.....it worked flawlessly until this year I noticed its much weaker and just now doesnt blow cold anymore but the system does engage and work. Looking at the hoses I beleive where they meet the compressor it has a SLOW leak.

At a local German Import parts store they are selling for MB and german cars a can of (for both r12/r134) refrigerant and leak seal (2cans). Im gonna go buy this tmrw and put it in the system but would like to get some opinions first. The car is for sale aswell and would like the AC blowing cold.

I HIGHLY recommend that you DO NOT use ANY type of leak sealer in your a/c system. They can easily goop up the ENTIRE system and get the system to a point where the ONLY way it can be fixed is to replace EVERYTHING.

If you have located the leak it would not be a big deal to simply have the hose redone at the local auto a/c shop, system evacuated and recharged.

Good luck,

Put Leak seal in it and you will ruin the system for yourself and definately for any future owners.....

Use it in KIA or a Hyundai....nobody keeps them long enough to matter.

But don't do it to a benz....

How about skipping on the sealent and just buying the can of refill freon?

Funny thing is this "refill" works for both systems?

R12 and R134 have different Molecules, the R12 is larger and when R134 is introduced it has smaller ones and leaks appear, they cannot be mixed, your being mis-lead, the only way to properly service A/C is to add dye, charge the system and find the leak and replace the o-ring or hose, hopefully not the compressor, then evacuate the system and charge to specified number of lbs, anything else is chasing your tail,
