Help, changing rear bearing

I am trying to change the rear bearing on my 1987 300TD wagon.

IT's a bear but what I need is to find a socket that fits the multi-cog bolts that hold on the rear axle shaft.

Please does anyone know what it's called or any local type stores that carry it? Snap-on? Mac? Matco? Auto parts stores?

I am in desprate need to get this bearing changed and need to get the rear axle off to do it.

try samtagsales.com

Also, if you know what it is FASTLANE can get it also. Most all sockets are available from many sources. The german stahlwille catalog is extensive and they probably supply them to the dealerships.

They carrry most of the MB stuff. Not sure what you are describing tonight i'm just too tired.

By "multi-cog bolts" do you mean "torx bolts"?? >> sort of star shaped??

MB seems to use a number of these >> I got a set of torx sockets from :

Maybe he means the twelve pointed nut or possibly a spline nut?
Assuming the nut is the same as my w124 sedan, it's just a twelve pointed (double hex) nut. You can use a standard 12 pt socket.

The bolts I am talking about are like cap bolts, a reverse spline bolt. Not allen or hex, and not a star.

I will check the sources in the last posts, but I really need to find something local if I can't I will go and have it shipped in.

thanks,

sory but i dont think tht anyone sells that tool other than mb.and second of all if u have never replaced a rear wheel bearing on that kind of car before than i would say just one thing .....dont do it yourself.it is not the easyiest to do.the tool can be bought from mb ,but i would not start it cause someone else might be finishing it.And i am not saying that u are incapable ,but it is a bit complicated and having too punch out old races and installing new once. Ive done over 50 rear wheel bearings and i would not attemp it on the floor and without the tool and a loooog prybar
