I know that these types of bulbs arent going to look like a new mercedes, but I dont have 500 to spend on making my headlights blind people. I just want them to look nice, and hopefully not cheap looking. Any ideas of the better brands out there?

If you can't afford real xenon, then I would suggest a set of Silverstar headlight bulbs. They have a clean light output, and look really nice after a month of use. I personally did the real xenon route in my 300e (self installed), and the lighting as very nice, I spent $350, not $500.

I bought my headlights from the same place (katmac) and I was pleased with them overall. Just throw those blue colored bulbs right in the trash and get some regular bulbs. I was curious about the Silverstars myself and bought 1 silverstar and 1 regular and yes, with both in my headlights at the same time I did notice a "slight" difference between the two, but not nearly enough to justify $40 for 2 as oppose to $14 for regular bulbs. And I wouldnt suggest buying the "plasma" H3's, just use the ones from your old headlights.

Just make sure you get them aimed good and with headlights and foglights on at same time, there is plenty of light on the road.

I'll second that opinion...toss the Blue bulbs out..they are crap, they only hurt visibility...

as long as were talking on the subject. i bought my car with yellow bulbs in the fog light socket (inside, closest to the fan) and i was wondering if that was standard and someone just thought they would look interesting there.

The bulb should be a clear bulb. There is a yellow colored cup that covers the bulb once its in the socket, hence the yellow fog lights. Atleast thats how my 190E US headlights were. So yes, the yellow fog lights are standard.

The emblem is awarded by Mercedes Benz of North America when your car achieves a certain mileage. It is the high mileage award from Benz. It comes with the grill emblem and a certificate. It is free.

Call MBUSA for more info.

your car will qualify for the [first] high mileage badge from mercedes there are 3 or 4 levels.

i think it was 167,500 miles for the 250,000 kilometer award/badge.

go to the dealership, they will give you a mileage form and they must sign it. you fill it out send it in. about 2-3 months later or when they feel like it MBUSA will send it to you.

i called to check on mine, the people said it had been sent out. i called them back 2 weeks later to ask again, then they said there were some problems with shipping, yadda, yadda.

i *****ed a little, 3 days later i had one. 2 days after that i received another one.

i have a spare.

BTW osram silverstars are brighter and put out MORE USABLE light and last longer than the sylvania's.
i'm in the lighting business, osram silverstars are the most popular bulbs, period.
