I am looking to purchase new rear brake pads for my 96 C280 and in the fast lane its asking for which chassis number. Can someone tell me where I should find the chassis number, beyond the W202? Thank You

you should be able to see it through a little window on the front windshield glass, or you could look on your vehicle registration card it is usually there.

Thank you everyone but the W202 is an obvius one that I mentioned in the original post. However when choosing brake pads it asks for a Chassis range, which I cant find anywhere. The ranges it asks for me to choose from are:
"A 487048-"
"-A 487047"
"-F 576240"
"F 576241-"

The care has a build date of 06/96 if that is helpful. Its has the sport package if that changes the brakes in any way?

look on your vin number, on the drivers side windshield near the dash, it will look something like this:

wdbha24g2xa740218 (taken from an ebay auction for a w202)

the bolded portion is the part you are looking for...this particular car would fall in the "A 487048-" range since it is A740218

On my 1999 SL500 SPORT the complete chassis number is shown on the card that lists the numbers for all of the options that came on the vehicle. I don't know if your W202 has this card or info . Good luck.
