slow oil leak

hey guys,

I have an 88 560SL with 80k miles.

I noticed a small slow leak after my last oil change. I t is definately coming from the drain plug.

I took it back and had it tightend up but its still wet down there.

the guy said that after all the open and closing it probbaly need to be replaced.

does anyone have a solution?

thanks

Matt

are you putting a new crush washer on?

They don't come with the filter like the old days....

There is a brass ring that goes around the drain plug and should be replaced everytime the oil is changed. If it is not then it is likely to leak. If the drain plug is not stripped the plug itself should be fine.

i didnt take it to a mercedes mechanic, so im sure he didnt do it properly.

i didnt know about the brass ring. thank you ! i will have it checked.

it must be a bad washer, becasue the leak is soo small its barely a spot on the garage floor.

thanks guys
