Vacuum line from breather hose (103)
A piece is molded into the breather hose that goes from the air cleaner to the intake manifold that appears to want a vacuum hose to go into it. Mine doesn't have any, but I have a vacuum hose at loose ends that comes from a connector at the left fender. Does the hose go there, or should I look further?
The car is a 1991 190e 2.6. Thanks. MDB |

I think that you mean the breather hose from the air cleaner to the valve cover. If that is the case, that hole in the breather hose is not for a vacuum line (although it is the same hard plastic) but a vent from the fuel pressure regulator. In case the reg. ruptures it dumps the fuel into the crankcase instead over the hot engine.

Having any of these lines disconnected could result in a vacuum leak that will cause operational/driveability problems and will be a sure visual failure if you have to be emission tested since the evap cannister may be disabled. If bubba's been there, you should correct his cobbled up work. Duke |

Here is the place
This picture shows the place I'm looking at. You see the small grey vacuum line coming out of the bottom of the breather hose? Where does it go?
