89 260E Climate control woes.
Hey all.
Okay, I bought new brushes for the fan, so I'm going to attempt ripping it out of the car tomorrow and installing them. That should solve some of my problem. I bought the 260E in summer and at that point the buttons on the climate control were working, but the fan barely going. Recently, none of the controls on the unit work. Not even the temp adjust. The lights still work though. Is there something I should check before I consider buying another climate control unit? Suggestions please! ![]() Last edited by Altinger; 09-02-2005 at 03:25 PM. |

Try this. Does the A/C compressor work? That will run regardless of the fan being busted or not. If not, the pushbutton control unit might be to blame.
If the PBC unit is ok, see if the fan works when you reinstall it. If it doesn't, chances are the blower regulator burned out if the fan seized. It's a delicate solid state component that has little tolerance to bizzare electrical conditions. |

fuse, blower regulator, blower itself. in that order.
