Let's just say . . .
that DTC#19 is not 'nice'! The LH-SFI module (Menu#7) has reached the end of its 'self-adaptation' range, so the CEL come on. Of course, it could be a cracked or broken vacuum line and / or a malfunctioning injector but normally if you haven't been working on your car, it's due to "aging".
I can fix the problem with a new eprom for the LH-SFI module. |

Because you got a code #19, I'm assuming you have a '94 or '95 E420, but it is just a guess.....

Help with interpreting codes #19, E420
Thank you JimF and Suginami for your help. Yes my car is 1994 E420. It is running fine, but why this lighted up? I have reseted the computer and so far the light hasn’t come back yet. Should I have to worry about it?
Thanks |

Thanks again JimF. Nothing related to wiring harness right? I took care of my car real good. This car never fails once. I love it so much.

If you haven't changed your
wiring harness (w/h), count your blessings! Since they all degrade, you are living on borrowed time.
But the DTC#19 does not normally involve the w/h. If the #19 problem is "real", the CEL will come back. You can 'test' to see what's going on: If you have access to a "pro" scanner, then the self-adaption (s/a) can be read using the live-data feature in the scanner. The current state of the s/a can be read it and that will tell you whether the CEL was 'real' or not. The present limits are +/-15% from nominal (which is "1"). So if you have it read, then let me know. If it's close to 0.85 (the lower limit), then the DTC#19 is "real"! Last edited by JimF; 09-06-2005 at 05:47 PM. |
