Irwis Brand Timing chain for M119 engines or MB OE

Is "Iwis" a good quality brand for timing chains for MB V8 m119 engines? Or, should I just spend the extra money and by MB OE from the dealer? Fastlane sells Iwis.

Sometimes I think I read to many forum post on certain subjects - in this case timing chains. I've read several post where people stated "make sure you spend the extra money" and get MB OE on this critical item ( timing chain and rails) and ....don't buy other brands. My experience has show me that many times the OE and OEM brand parts are almost identical with the exception of the MB star, and the OEM manufactures make the OE parts.

I'm unsure of the OEM part/manufacture for the MB timing chain.

I agree with this. I'm sure that in Europe or Asia no one gives a second thought to buying Swag, Iwis, etc... they've been in business for a long time, have a good reputation they worked hard to obtain, and simply will not allow junk to bear their name. I bought some tie rods for the 560 from I forget who (one of the well known OE mfrs) that were made in Turkey (which at least at one time was Germany's "Mexico"). The boxes actually had a hologram of the brand name on it. Because everything here is coming from only a small number of importers, I don't think there is any way that bogus stuff could get into the USA...except (and only very possibly) via eBay.
