Fuel Pump Testing (74 450 SEL)

In the Haynes and Chilton books that I have, it says you can test fuel pump
flow for the mechanical fuel injection (76-79). Flow should be about 1 quart
in 30 sec. But both books don't list that test for the electronic
fuel injection (73-75). It has you test pressure instead.
However, shouldn't the flow test be valid for the earlier cars as well.
I'd like to test the flow of the pump on my car and also on a couple of
used parts pumps I have.
