Timing chain cover CRACKED!

W126 500SE 1980 m117

Here goes nada!!

Please advice me on what to do !!

I did the water pump this last weekend, everything was nice and smoothed took me about 3 hours, no problems at all!i knew that i had to reset the timing on the ignition. So i refused to turn on the car and took it to the shop monday morning TOWED- i told them to reset the timing ignition i told them the TDC was not set at "0" but the pullets 6 bolts were perfectly align. Now, i took it to the shop and he calls me and tells me he cant start the car that something else is wrong blah blah im like wtf-- and then he calls me later and tells me he set the first piston to the top and igtion at 180 etc etc and the car turned on perfect! but their was a noise ----he added oil noise kept going then he looked under the engine and he sees a crack!!!

Was this something the mechanic could have screwed up or something ? the car was running in top condition before i changed the water pump! please please advice. The car is still at the shop!! Before i took the car their was no oil leaking at ALL! and no crack at ALL cuz i painted down there!! the TDC was off/balancer and the pulley and i cleaned it ! and i saw nooooo nooo crack at ALLL!!!

*crying **

Thank you!!
