1987 TD Wagon Head Gasket Question!!!

I just bought a 87 300TD wagon that has 188,000 miles on it. The previous owner stated that there is coolant coming out of the tailpipe and the car ran over somthing that punctured the radiator and overheated the engine.

My question is how difficult is it to replace the headgasket in this car. I just got done doing a 91 300TE Wagon and it was pretty straight forward.

I am not sure if the head is warped or possiably cracked. I plan on of course tearing into it over the weekend and I know there are other things to look for but more importantly what to look out for when do this type of repair. Thanks for all you input.

George
