W124: wiper arm twist correction?

I put a new blade (a Bosch blade purchase at Fastlane) two weeks ago, but it already makes squeaking noise when the blade is at the right side (passenger side in continent) end.

My guess is that they are talking about reparing a twist by forcibly bending it back.
Have not seen any twist on my 124. Many cars will benefit from bending the arms slightly towards the windshield to increase pressure. Often they have lost their shape from 'fatique', or the springs do not pull as hard as they used to.

I removed the wiper blade and saw whether the arm is in parallel with the windshield.
When the arm is at the left end position, the arm is not in parallel. I want to see whether the arm is in parallel when it is in mid position and at right end position, but I cannot stop the windshield anywhere other than the left end position. Shall I just twist the arm so that it is in parallel with the windshield when it is at the left end position?

if you're quick...just turn the ignition off when the wiper is near the end of its passenger side travel and it'll stay there...best of luck

Aha. Now I can stop it at other position.
It seems to be designed not to be parallel at the end positions. I stopped the wiper at the center position, found that it was out of parallel by very small angle, and corrected it.

and did it work??
apart from the interminable fuel system/idle problems, wiper skip is the most annoying feature of my 300E

The off angle at the center position was small. With the arm at the center, I could insert a piece of typical copy paper (Zerox Multipurpose 4024) a little through the gap between the arm and the glass on the left side.
After the twist correction, I could not insert the piece of paper on either side. The wiper did not squeak on dry glass. Yesterday, it rained. So I tested the wiper. Before the twist correction, the wiper squeaked at the right end position. But yesterday (after the twist correction), it was squeaking at both left and right end positions. I brought the Bosch blade home, cleaned it with Meguiars Heavy Duty Carpet Cleaner, rinsed it, and applied TurtleWax Platinum Series Ultra Shine Protectant on it. I heard I should not use vinyl/rubber protectant on wiper blade, but I did. I let it penetrate for 5 minutes and wiped off excess with napkin, wiped the edge (where the rubber contacts the glass) with dry napkin several times to wear out the protectant residue. I went out and tested in the rain. Streak due to the protectant was soon gone. I tested for about ten minutes at intermittant wiping setting. There was no sqeak anymore, and the wiping quality was the same as it was before putting protectant: haze on the swept area evaporated out in a blink (0.1 ~ 0.3 seconds? I did not measure, but the duration of the haze looked the same as before putting the protectant). I will post when the squeak comes back.

Squeak came back after 1 month of protectant application. But it was not as bad as before. I often heard some squeak when the wiper turns direction, and this squeak was not consisntant: it seemed to depend on the rain. When the car is driving at some speed, I do not hear squeak at all.

Chatter from W124 monowipers is common. On my car, it happens at the extreme ends of each swipe. I started a thread on this a while back. Very frustrating and annoying, and has led to more than a few folks selling their W124s because they got tired of it.
Sometimes cleaning the glass helps. MB windshields seem to pit more than others, and the pits hold onto oil/grease from the road. Takes multiple cleanings with lots of cleaning solution to really clean them out. Some folks use a strong solvent like wax remover (used by body shops before painting). Something that helps mine, at least for a while, is to lightly lube the chrome wiper shaft with silicone "grease" every oil change.

My solution:
1. New blades in the spring & fall. 2. CLEAN the area where the wiper reverses rotation ( bottom of drivers & passenger side ) really well ! 3. Lube the sliding shaft ( as mentioned above by Steve ) at every oilchange.
