Trunk Problem

Ok guys, this sucks. Someone tried to/broke into my trunk, and in the process, evidently damaged the mechanisim. Keys wont work, won't even go in the key hole completely, nor does unlocking the car and just pushing the trunk button open the bastard. I took out the first aid kit boxes to check it out from the inside, and I can see a rod with a spring and stuff on it. Short of taking the car in, is there a diagram of the lock or a way to open that bad boy up?

On a side note, what is it with Mercedes? Mine's an 81 and the thing rides like a dream. I've been in much newer/new cars that aren't as smooth a ride. And since it rides that nice, the interior needs to reflect that.

My mom's father-in-law bought it new, then my mom's husband had it for a while, and now it's mine. First week I had it someone hit the drivers door and took off! Other than that the body is great. As for the interior, the backseat needs to be redone and a couple of minor things. I love that iconic big body Benz look. My goal is to get it back to it's original posh condition. Thanks in advance for the help.

If they damaged the lock you might as well order a new one and drill out the old. Use a titanium bit and angle the cut to the 2 o'clock position.
