New Radiator is Different?!
1994 E420
My original radiator has finally died. Stupid thing almost left me stranded in the mountains of North Carolina, but a little plastic weld epoxy and I was able to get home. Anywho, I got a new radiator…part numbers match and all but there seems to be something a little wrong. Look at THIS (large pict) pict. This is original radiator and as you can see, it has a built in nipple for the overflow hose. Now HERE (large pict) is the new radiator. As you can see, there is no provision for an overflow hose. What the heck is going on? |

You can purchase that little nipple/plastic elbow piece separate.

So you're saying that assuming there is nothing wrong with the old elbow, I can take it off and use it on the new radiator? It will require drilling out the hole but that’s okay?
okay dokay. thanks! |

before drilling out the new radiator, have you verified at the dealer there isn't a new style elbow?
Also racing supply firms sell numerous elbows with different diameters to use in such cases. Some are made to use heat shrink bands for a leakproof connection. May want to start at the Gates rubber web site, and go from there. |
