89 300E Shake after start

I have a 1989 300E with 710,000km and lately after I start the car the car shakes as if it wants to die. Sometimes it dies and sometimes it does not. While driving the car is great but when I come to a stop it shakes again. This happens for the first 5 minutes after starting the car.

On a seperate note when the car is on there is a load hum sound coming from the passenger side dash. I have no idea what it could be. This sound is on all the time.

Also some of the factory stereo light are burnt out. Is there anyway I can replace these light bulbs and if so how would I remove the stereo.

Thanks for all your help

Fab

Shaking means one or more cylinders are not operating, i.e. missing.

Missing is the problem, shaking the symptom.

Mine did the same thing. Problem was tired motor mounts. Inexpensive repair.

Good luck,

Did you check the injectors and fuel pressure? Spark plugs/wires/dist cap rotor etc.

Idid a tune-up about 6 months ago. I changes the plugs, fuel filter, oil change, air filter but not the wires, dist cap and or rotor. I will change that first then see what happens. I will also do a fuel injection flush. But if the wires, dist cap and rotor are bad wouldn't the car run bad all the time, not just in the first 5 min of starting the car?

Thanks

Check the throttle linkage bits. All of the little arms, wheels, and micro switches may not be returning to full idle 'detant'.

710k km= 440k mi= WOW!
