Thumbs up 230S, 1967 model... worth $3K to pickup?

My pal's mother is selling an old Benz and I don't know too much about these older, vintage machines. He's down in Houston and I'm up in Dallas.

Can anyone tell me what motor it has in there? Typical transmissions? Other odd problems?

Thanks!

is it a fintail?

if it is it will have king pins. and they are somewhat picky about being greased and sometimes the a arm bushings sieze too. of course it will have a carb. and that will be dicey if it is the original solex pos. actually some of them were ok. other than that they were very similar to the 115 that followed mechanically. prob no power steering or brakes, could be though, but may not be. when things are working correctly they drive very much like a newer benz. nice.

Thumbs up

Yup it has small fins on the back end of the car. I'll look into it when I'm in Houston in a few weeks.

Thanks for the input!

course

it has the swing axle out back. the boots were pretty bad about cracking at the top. there was a split boot available. drum brakes all four wheels.
