Could be parchment, could be creme beige. For the most part E-class's had creme beige, S-class and SLs had parchment, but I believe there's some exceptions to that. The way to know for sure is to get the color code, which should be on the radiator plate. It's also on the VMI which you can get from the dealer. I believe creme beige is #265, not sure about parchment.

The 275 would be a suspect but you need to get the VMI to find out for sure. I thought all 124s were creme beige rather than parchment but once saw a window sticker on a 94 E320 coupe that said parchment - so it's pretty much all messed up. Why they made two colors so close together is a mystery.

PS - just checked the plate on my 92 400E, which is also smoke silver 702. My car says 265, which I know from my VMI to be the upholstery code, in exactly the same place that yours says 275 - which means one of us has parchment and the other creme beige - but which is which I don't know. Someone must have the codes.

Question 275/265 the same colour different chassis?

this site lists 275 as champignon / mushroom on the r129 chassis.
265 as champignon / mushroom on the w124 chassis

I think I prefer to put it in my for sale description in the german language which is "Champignon." It looses something in the translation. Who really wants a mushroom interior?

The "275" may NOT refer to color ID.

The nine three-digit numbers on your plate usually refers to the options fitted at factory to that specific car. For your info:

275: memory swicth for seat and steering column
412: Electric sliding roof
550: Trailer coupling with detachable ball neck.
491: U.S.A. version (many equipment which is sold separetly in Europe is included in this option code, like central locking, power windows, window tint, etc, etc, etc.)
810: Sound Package
551: Anti-theft warning system
581: Automatic climate control
757: Radio Becker Grand Prix 2000 for the U.S.A.

The other three-digit number on your plate: 702 refers to your exterior color: smoke silver.

The interior code is usually NOT shown on this plate, it is listed on your production card which on European cars is attached to your maintenance booklet.

According to my catalogs, the W124 was fitted with three interior leather colors [very similar between them]:

Code 275: Cream Beige
Code 265: Mushroom
Code 255: Cream

Now, I could be wrong and actually 275 specifies your interior color as Cream Beige on your ID plate (which could be an specific info attached to ID plates to U.S. cars).

Check your production card (white and blue) or ask your dealer based on your VIN number.

I think he's looking for the U.S. market nomenclature - to advertise a U.S. market car. We never had mushroom here - only creme beige and parchment. They are very similar but I don't think they are the same. I once laid a creme beige headrest on a parchment seat and there was a noticeable difference. Plus it would be unlike Mercedes to use two different names and color codes for the same color. A trip to the dealership can solve the mystery - to get the VMI and ask the parts counter to look up the upholstery code.

The 92 mb color chart (in my hand) says creme beige. The onlu US for a 500E colors were, black, blue, creme beige, dark brown. Parchment is very close and almost impossible to tell the difference

Not Too Creamy

My 1995 W124 is parchment, if you can see the color in the picture below. The parchment is a bit darker and less “creamy” than the cream beige.
