Rear Camber's messed up
Hi everyone im new here but i need some help a.s.a.p. My little brother drives around a 97' mercedes c230 and i just realized that the rear camber is off, the top of the wheels stick out a bit and the lower part is inward a tad. The vehicle has never been lowered or adjusted. My father went to an allignment place nearby and they told him something about a camber arm, and how on mercedes its not adjustable so he wants to put a honda suspension part on this mercedes. I dont know much about mercedes but im sure that theres a better solution than slapping on some honda part. Ive never heard of a camber arm too, he might have meant the controll arms or a camber adjustment kit *which i dont see why we would need one if its never been lowered*. I would just like some help as to what we should check out before this mechanic tries messing up our mercedes. Thank you for the help

your feelings are
correct. that guy who wants to "put honda parts on" is either pulling his leg and will do something else and charge him for it or just doesnt know what is going on.
is the car wearing its tires out on the outside edge? the camber is not adjustable because it normally doesnt need to be. does the car have its stock wheels on it? if he has wrong wheels on it that sit too far in on the suspension this would be a natural occurance. good thinking on your part to ask here. tom w

There are adjustable rear suspension links available all over the place but .... I don't recommend it. The tech may be correct in solving one problem but you may end up chasing two.
Do yourself a favor and take it to someone who knows Mercedes, Mercedes rear suspensions and links and most especially knows how to align them. Ask the tech if he uses a thrust bar when he aligns the car .... Haasman
