Part # Windshield Washer Reservoir Cap 1988 420 SEL

Does anyone have the correct part number for a windshield washer reservoir cap for a 1988 420 SEL?

TIA

That's not the correct part number. I have that and it definitely will NOT fit the reservoir of my 420 SEL.

is it possible that the reservoir is incorrect? is there a part number on the reservoir? if so send it nd i will crossreference the cap by that number.

The reservoir is correct for the car. The current M-B parts books are NOT.

My washer reservoir cap could not be secured to the reservoir (this was a recent development). The reservoir has a threaded-looking neck, so I assumed that the cap was warped or cracked.

The part number you quoted -- which is the same part number that my local M-B dealership gave me -- has no means of attachment on my car's washer reservoir or any other 126 chassis washer reservoir.

I convinced the dealership to order a cap with the same part number as the currently installed reservoir cap -- 123-869-01-72. Fitment was the same: it could not be tightened securely.

After doing some detective work, I found out that in order for the cap to attach to the reservoir, a seal is required; part number 123-997-05-40. That item was missing from my car and was the source of my frustration.

Mine's too small!
I have an '85 300TD wagon. The majority of the washer system was missing from the car when I bought it. I ordered everything from MBParts.com, the numbers on the reservoir and cap match, the cap seems to be the same cap/same-sized cap as the one on the rear reservoir, but it's way too small.
Cap # 123 869 01 72
I forget the reservoir #, but I think it's also a 123 869#.

My best guess is, the front reservoir takes a bigger cap. Or, I've go the wrong reservoir. It doesn't look wrong, though.

Any ideas?
