Leaking Caliper - Beyond rebuilding?
I have a front caliper thats leaking pretty slowly. The rubber is all chewed up on the inside side. What warrents a caliper not being rebuildable, the insides?

leaking caliper
The piston, bore and seals will all wear under different circumstances and passage of time. There are several companies that re-manufacture with new sleeves (stainless), and pistons/seals. " White Post Restorations" is one that I have used. Not cheap but they probably still offer a lifetime warranty on their reman units. What they did for me on an XKE years ago are still problem free. If you're interested I can get a phone # or try a search.

ON a 1983 300D, the only thing that would stop you from re-sealing that caliper is if the piston was damaged OR rusted.

I would look at getting a rebuilt. I know that some people think that rebuilts are no good but I'm 4 out of 4 from Advance auto, and they weren't that expensive. The rebuild kits I've seen cost a significant part of a rebuilt unit.
