1992 300E no start

Car wont start. Cranks over but doesnt fire. Happened a few weeks ago, one day just would not start in morning. Couple days later fired right up. Once started runs well.

Not a daliy driver. Did it again, cant get it started. Tried a new ovp, got a 2 fuse one from fastlane to replace the 1 fuse one, is that ok?

Got spark at coil wire. One time turing over, thought I heard one cyl go to fire but then nothing when it continued to crank.

maybe crank sensor? fuel pump relay? Anyway to by-pass either?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

Off the top of my head: check that both of your fuel pumps are firing. If so, is your fuel system maintaining pressure after shutdown? --- fuel pump check valves need to be checked as well as the fuel accumulator.

Your MAS Sensor is your fuel relay on the '92 ... take it off and jump pins 1 and 2 (off top of my head again) with a wire to fire up the fuel pumps. Again, ensure both are working.

Remote possibility -- clogged fuel filter.

Good Luck

ok, thanks, I'll try jumping the pins at the mass.

Kinda cold up here in RI, if it warms up, I'll venture under the hood.

How do I tell if both pumps are running, just feel with fingers to feel them running? Are the fuel pumps under the car? I can't tell by the pages in the manual, just guessed they are.

Thanks, Jeff

looking at the manual, if I find the versions right, I think it says for 1992 300E to jump pin 11 and 20 of the mas to energize pumps.

Can anyone confirm this? Don't want to blow anything by jumping wrong pins.

Thanks, Jeff

I had the same problem a week ago. Found out the little adaptor bracket which is located behind the rotor arm had broken. Take the distributor cap off, remove the rotor arm and see if that is the cause.
