I finally picked up my 300E tonight after it's month long valve job overhaul! this car rocks! it starts right up. purrs like a cat. and man,,,,it hauls! it even chirps the tires first threw third when I floor it! ( I hope this is a good thing) kind of scarry though switching from my past months driving experience of an 85 Chevy van with no heat and hardly any acceleration. thanks for everyone's help in convincing me I need a valve job. well worth the money!
thanks again, Adam

Glad to hear your back on the throne.
Did you get the AMG wheels put on it yet? I'd love to see pics of it with the AMG wheels. Alon

I understand. I was extremely pleased after doing valves, guides et al. These engines come apart and go back together very, very well.
Have a great day, |

Did they Blueprint the vavle job, or did you have some custom specs/parts added (such as tighter valve springs) How much did the valve job cost.

cost me about 1300, tons of new parts added. fan support bracet, timing chain guide, lots of plastic housings, ect.
only cost me about 120 for all the parts just for the valve job!!! 500 for labor! he sold me the parts at his cost! really nice guy.

I;m thinking that I might need a valve job in the future, however had no idea of the cost. It does seem reasonable, because I heard from someone that it would cost over 2k. Just how noticable is the power upgrade? what kind of Cam do you have , the Shrick?. Tell me more, I might need to do the same.

I have seen them go from $1300 to $2000/ This depends on what has to be done. If you have to take off the front cover and replace the rails, tensioner and injectors it could be on the upper end of the scale.
