This is for a 1983 240D.
The clock does not work. In past postings I have read that if you replace the two capcitors, that the clock will work again and that the capcitors can be replaced for about $1 from Radio Shack. I took the clock into Radio Shack and we were unable to read anything on the capcitors. Could someone tell me the ratings of these capcitors? |
This web page http://hsb.baylor.edu/html/easley/autofaqs/clock.htm
has the instructions and specifies that the Radio Shack part number is 272-1028. My clock is also broken, but I haven't attempted the fix yet. |
Did you check the 12V connector?
There's a 12V wire that plugs into the back of the instrument console that wasn't connected on my car. I plugged it in and voila I have the time.

You will need 100mfd with a voltage of at least 16v. I use the 32v, 100mfd.
It doesn't fail. |
