Don't use graphite it will make it worse. M B Locks are wafers not pins.

ALL W124 igntions locks fail eventually.
Best bet is to take it immediately to a mechanic who can provide you a loaner lock until he can get one with the proper keying from a dealer.

The problem could be the lock cylinder itself, or the steering column lock pawl could be bound up.
Were there intermittent problems in the recent past?

Sander
A member had excellent luck clamping his ignition key in his hand sander's
paper clamp ...AND then using the vibrations of the sander-enhanced key turned his lock to position #1 (On) (More than once!Brave,Brave man) AND LEFT IT THERE ! [the Key] [Position #1] WHILST HE RAN DOWN TO THE STEALER FOR THE NEW (MATCHING) TUMBLER AND KEY.

Try moving the wheel back and forth while turning the key. It might nudge the mechanism enough to free it up. Otherwise get your Dremmel tool ready.
You can't remove the lock normally unless you get the key to position 1.

I have had good luck tapping(not hitting too hard though ) squarely on the end of the key with a small hammer while shaking the wheel and trying to turn the key in this whole process.quite a task but 99 out of a hundred lock ignitions I can get free enough to pull them.
