Changed my coolant - no heat!?

Hello,

I just changed my water pump and re-filled the coolant on my wife's 1996 E320 and now there isn't any heat in the passenger compartment. Maybe I'm missing something...

The water pump works great and ran the car for 20 minutes or so, but still no heat!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Adam

Let it cool down overnight and see if it's low on coolant in the morning.

It appears that the system has air in the lines to the heater core. I don't know that specific vehicle, however, there may be some tricks to getting rid of it.

If it has air trapped, the air needs to be bled out of the system. In order to do this, fill the expansion tank completely with coolant and let it run for a while. The air should bleed itself out of the system.

I agree with the idea that you have air trapped in the cooling system. You can help the purge by raising the front of the car with jacks, ramps, etc., fill the expansion tank, and run the engine. This worked on my 94 E320.

Mark
