aux. fan fuse blown (420 SEL) 89
my fuse to the aux. fan has blown , could anyone tell me why this fuse would blow & does this fuse power anything else ? Also I hav a high idle, car starts fine. the idle is at 1000 but after it warms up it goes to 1200-1500rpm, when the car is put in gear the rpm goes to 700-900.
thanx for any replies

Natural for idle to lower when in gear. Cold idle will also be higher than warm idle. May be correct, do you have idle specs. Check against those before you adjust. May be something as simple as cold idle adjustment, blocked air filter, or PCV.

The fuse would blow because too much current passed through it. Either there is a short or the motor may have gotten bound up a little and sucked more current perhaps. Replace the fuse and see if it happens again. If it doesn't then leave it alone. If it repeatedly blows the fuse, then you have a problem.

High idle...
...probably our most common inquiry:
1) Fuse on top the OVP or the OVP itself 2) Dirty or dead idle control valve 3) dying or dead idle control unit Above in order of expense to replace. Do a search in the forums for in depth info on location and procedures for your model. here's hoping its the 10 amp fuse on the OVP ![]() Kevin
