diesel oil change

Oil change for 87 300 SDL.If I were to pump the oil out the dip stick to change it.Will this work the same as the drain plug.:

The general consensus is that the top-sider units will do a perfectly acceptable job in changing the oil.

Of course, there is the group that wants to get the last five ounces out of the bottom of the pan, and, for that you'll have to remove the drain plug.

The choice is yours.

Others will state that you'll get more oil out via dipstick extraction.

This would be a physical impossibility. The best you could possibly do would be to match the performance of the drain plug. However, the tube would need to touch the bottom of the pan in such an instance.........making flow through the tube impossible.

I'm quite sure that the drain plug will allow some flow after the topsider is utilized.......however, it's probably less than five ounces in almost all cases.
