450 engine

I'm restoring a 1976 450SL. How do I remove the timing cover to clean out the broken plastic chain guide parts? It appears to be blocked by the oil pump drive chain assembly. I am a retired mechanic but this one has me stumped.

Here is a link to the 450SE(L), which has the same engine:

http://www.w116.org/

and the library:

http://handbook.w116.org/matrix6.htm

and the engine:

http://handbook.w116.org/engine_76_l.htm

and a site dedicated to the 450SL, W107 actually:

http://sl107.com/6/ubb.x?cdra=Y&s=4936035941

So now you have some homework to do.
