Question Power window relay for Auto-close

First off, the people in this forum are the most helpful anywhere!

I have a 98 C230 and the power windows have never worked (since I have owned the car) in the position where the button is depressed fully to have the windows open or close all the way without holding the button. They do each function open and closed but only if you hold the button at the first detent. If depressed fully, they stop moving.

I know this is something stupid, but if it is just a relay or something, it would be worth fixing.

Have you read the owner's manual about how to set the auto up/down function? That's probably all you need to do and it's free and easy, assuming the '98 edition had it.

Smile

I will give the manual a look this afternoon and see if that is the problem.

Thanks.

Thumbs up Success

You were right. The manual explained. " after a full power loss (dead battery) it is nessecary to re-calibrate the Auto open/ close function. This is performed by opening and closing each window. When the window reaches the fully open or the full closed position the window button must be held for an additonal 2 seconds to perform the calibartion.

I did it and it worked. Thanks again.
