Leaking Coolant 1991 300TE

I have always worked on my own cars but have not done very much on my 1991 300TE except for oil changes and brakes. I bought the Mercedes Benz Service Manual Library CDs and am amazed at how little it offers relative to the price. Are there reasonably priced repair manuals for the DIY. My car is leaking coolant in the area of the water pump. Is this a job that is straight forward or should this be done by a professional? Besides the thermostat, are there other things that should be replaced or done at the same time? I attempted to replace the middle and rear mufflers and damaged the catalytic convertor and have become reluctant to work on this car. Thanks. [bought with 80k miles, now with 150k miles]
