CLimate control panel "light".

On my yr 2000 E320 climate control display, the illumination is acting up. It seems to be "something" loose, because if I rap on it in just the right place it will
light up, but the next time II'm in the car it is malfunctioning again.

Has anyone had experience with the same, and was able to get at this and fix it? (I'll bet it would be a very pricey thing at a dealer's service shop.)
