oh yeah...what exactly is the name of the city on the Canadian side of the border? I know it is Blaine, Washington on the US side...

That is the truth and the correct solution. I am driving mine until it blows up and then never again own one of these cars. I think it is simply ridiculous how much goes wrong on the W124 at about 100K. Even the shop foreman just told me they are not worth repairing, since it will just be another problem after you fix the current problem.

What is this, " One fits all "?
Having owned my car for 3 years & 80 k miles, I've had virtually 0 problems with it ( and don't expect any in the near future ).
I also find maintenance items to be quite inexpensive ( as compared to my previous VW ).
At this point, I can't see myself buying anything other than Mercedes in the future. ;)

Hey.... Blaine is Across from the Boarder Crossings in Surrey. The Canadian Side where I am is Aldergrove, which is under the Langley Municipality...If you cross the boarder from here or the abbotsford crossing, you end up entering another small American town, Lynden Washinton. Usually I just drive out to Bellingham, alot more selection and only 20 minutes from the boarder.

Yea, the BC rep is actually that bad. I go to Vegas in the Summer times, and quite often when I've mentioned where i'm from.....they'll either say, I heard you guys leagalized weed(not true), you have a marijauna problem, or I heard yall got the best BUD up there....one of three. This past summer When I was in Oakland, I heard some more people saying the same thing there. I think alot of it has to do with the smuggling problem and media attention it generates. Every time Vancouver does something to clean the streets up such as a Needle Exchange, it generates enough media attention that by the time it reaches the US(no diss) they think ...we just legalized Heroin and we've got this cool little place that one day if you're reallllyyyyyyy high, you go there and they'll load your needle up and help you shoot it up, for FREE!!!???!!!.......when in reality the city of Vancouver is trying to clean the streets up with this program, and helping to hide it from young kids who shouldn't see a junky shoot up across the street from their elementry school. I think alot of this Vancouver drug capital talk is over rated. Its actually one of the best places to live and the safest.

I've got the same approach with my C. I'll drive it till people won't even want it for scrap metal. I'm sure your model is problematic also. I was told along time ago by someone who worked at a benz dealership, that the C220 model in 94 was mercedes first crack at the new model, and they did have alot of problems. I was told for this model, everything didn't get worked out until the C230 debuted....

W124 has its problems but, I don't know if (not worth repairing) is true. Any W124 owners out there please stand up:) :D :D

Ha, ha, ha.
Need I remind you.
Winter Olympics 1998, Nagano, Japan.
Canadian Snowboarder Ross Rebagliati ( from BC ) wins the Gold medal, and then promptly has it revoked, because he " smoked it up " before his competition. ;)

Hey ksing44, sorry about your car. I read some of your post and now I know way you made that bold statement about W124. oh yeah, if $$$ is an issue then in your situation, (get rid of the car) you are talking about big time $$$. I see you are having all kinds of problem. For those W124 owners who DIY, we think differently.

Yea they stripped it from him, but he got the gold medal back once they discouvered he was standing to close to some Ontarians smoking weed at a Whistler night club a month before the olympics.....see second hand smoke is harmful...

trueog,

Think you could read a little more into it? Anyone who can write what you did needs to look at himself first - in everything you write, there is a piece of you.

Actually he didn't have the medal revoked. I don't know that he necessarily smoked up before the competition, because THC's can stay in your system for a period of time after use. However, it was determined that marijuana is in no way a "performance-enhancing drug" and he kept the medal.

Not so fast. I heard from reliable sources on the internet that everyone in Vancouver is a crack smoking, AID's infected, liberal on the UI. I hope that all these americans don't get the wrong impression.
