M104 E320 engine (cams/crank) timing - how to check?

Hi all,

I just did a head gasket replacent on my M104 ('95 E320 - 98k). With the harmonic balancer at TDC, how can I tell if my cam gears are positioned properly - and timed correctly with the crank? There are no indicators on the gears. THANKS!

-------------

As a bit of background, I used paint marks across both cam gears/timing chain, and for extra measure, put paint marks across the chain at each chain rail. I did this before I removed the timing chain tensioner.

I wired the chain in place so it wouldn't slip off the crank sprocket. With head back in place, and the chain tensioner in place, and after turning the engine over by hand for several revoltions, my paint marks are all dead on.

I think I'm good to go. But just wanted to make sure. Many thanks!
