Question stoodie53

I just repaired a transmission leak on my '72 350 SEL.
It was leaking from the fitting on the radiator.
I cleaned off the fitting and covered the threads with teflon tape and re-tightened the fitting....Great! I stopped the leak!...I now intended to let the car off of the floor jack and go for a ride ( I topped off the trans with the engine running).
The accumulators will not raise the car.
I allowed the car to run for around 40 minutes and it still will not come up.
I had been told by the local Mercedes shop that denatured alcohol goes in the resivore as an antifreeze at cold temperatures.
Is that the same place one puts the hydraulic oil when it it low?
My wife comes from the hospital tomorrow and I should like to be able to pick her up.
